Berzinsky Architects and Banik Cumby were involved in the beginning stages of work to the Historic Union League. A six phase master plan was developed with BLT with work planned for spaces all around this Center City icon. We were able to implement the first phase of the master plan with the work on the Historic Broad Street suite of rooms. A complete re-visioning of the entrance corridor, from what was more of a “municipal service corridor” into what is now an elegant pre-function space for the adjoining restaurants, sitting rooms, and meeting rooms, greets the membership upon arrival from the great Broad Street staircase. Working within the context of existing spectacular millwork and plaster decoration, the Heritage Room, Cigar Room, Old Café and Meredith Room were designed. The reworking of the club favorite Old Café bar was done seamlessly to the great appreciation of the membership. Attention to detail in new custom designed millwork, carpet, and furnishings complete the rejuvenation of this historic club which now allows the priceless collection of artwork to shine.
